Agents, Nominees and Administrators – Who Does What?
- Agents are often accountants or professional advisers. They act for one or more charities by preparing and submitting Gift Aid claims to HMRC. Each charity must authorise the agent before claims can be filed.
- Nominees can be organisations or individuals chosen by the charity. HMRC pays Gift Aid repayments into the nominee account and the nominee then passes them on to the charity. This requires clear trust and agreements but it is fully supported by HMRC.
- Administrators can set up charities in GiftAider Online and manage claims on their behalf. They use the charity details directly and can also provide the charity with its own login. Administrators keep control but charities can still access their own data and reports.

Moving On from GiftAider Desktop
GiftAider Desktop is no longer available. If you used it before, your data can be migrated safely to GiftAider Online.
