Friends of Cathedral Music has successfully used GiftAider for the last five years.
We’ve had occasional queries on the software and HMRC’s systems. SMXi seem to maintain excellent working relationships with HMRC and aided by this, any issue we’ve raised has always been resolved promptly – usually within a day.
The software is regularly updated, both to keep up with changes in gift aid procedures and improve user convenience, and we’re very satisfied users.

Important
Currently, GiftAider is designed to run on Windows 7 and above.
If you are interested in a MacOS version please get in touch to express an interest.
You will need to be Registered as a Charity and have an official Charity Number.
You will need to have a HMRC Government Gateway User ID and password set up which can be obtained from following this link http://www.gateway.gov.uk/
And last of all you will need a HMRC Reference Number which confirms you are a Charity.
This is vital and can take HMRC up to 3 weeks to issue.
You will need to complete the HMRC Charities Application Form (ChA1) for charities or the CASC Registration Form (CASC(A1). Follow this link and complete this form –https://www.gov.uk/charity-recognition-hmrc
This form will require various information such as bank account details, NI numbers, Charitable Objectives, and your Governing Document. Have this to hand will enable you to complete the form quickly and easily.
In the meantime, whilst you are waiting to receive your reference numbers from HMRC, you can still use GiftAider to enter in all of your Gift Aid forms, but you will not be able to submit it.
