Waiting Auth means GiftAider has finished preparing the claim, but the selected HMRC-authorised official has not yet signed and submitted it.
Continue a prepared claim
- Open Claims.
- Open the submissions or past-claims list used by your package.
- Find the claim with status Waiting Auth.
- Select Continue.
- Review the claim reference, figures and declaration.
- If everything is correct, complete the consent and Sign and Submit steps.
The claim list is the route back into a prepared claim. Opening View may show claim detail without taking you to the signing step.
Cancel when a correction is needed
Do not edit a prepared claim to make its totals match a different set of source records. If the claim is wrong:
- Close the claim detail page.
- Use the available cancel action for the prepared claim.
- Confirm that the donations and adjustments return to their appropriate eligible state.
- Correct the source donor, donation, declaration or adjustment.
- Preview the claim again.
- Prepare a new claim and check the new figures.
Expected result
- Continuing opens the prepared declaration and signing workflow.
- Cancelling does not submit anything to HMRC.
- Cancelled claim items become available for correction and a new preparation where they remain eligible.
- The old prepared claim remains distinguishable from the newly prepared claim.
Troubleshooting
There is no clear Continue action: Check the claim status and your permissions. If the claim is Waiting Auth but no permitted user can reach Sign and Submit, contact support with the claim reference.
The figures changed after cancellation: Compare the new preview with the corrected source records. A new preparation should use the current eligible data, not the cancelled snapshot.
